Psoriasis

Personalised nutritional support

Psoriasis is a chronic, non-contagious autoimmune disease which is characterised by raised, itchy, scaly patches on the skin, most commonly seen on the knees, elbows, scalp and trunk but it can occur on any part of the body. The prevalence of psoriasis in the UK is estimated to be around 1.7%. It can start at any age but it most often develops between the ages of 20 and 30 years and it affects both men and women equally. The condition can vary greatly between people from a mild discomfort to being quite severe, affecting quality of life.

Conventional treatments for Psoriasis include topical treatments, including creams and ointments that are applied directly to the skin. For the more seriously affected by the condition, a treatment known as phototherapy (ultraviolet light therapy) may be offered.

The functional medical approach to Psoriasis involves looking at the digestive function and how diet and lifestyle maybe influencing the immune system, with the aim of finding the root causes to the condition.

“At Ellingham Nutrition, our Registered Nutritional Therapist, Annie, will support you to unravel the nutrition and dietary myths and conflicting information.”

We will help you build a better understanding to improve your health and wellbeing through positive nutrition and lifestyle changes. With our nutritional guidance and therapy, we can help identify the root causes of your health conditions by factoring in your health history, nutrition and lifestyle habits.

How I work

The Ellingham Nutrition approach is personalised and tailored to each client; we will first conduct a discovery call to discuss your health concerns and issues, how they impact your life and what you aim to gain from our sessions. The following stage is an in-clinic, phone or zoom appointment, where we will talk in detail and establish a long-term plan.

Our fees

This service is tailored for people who aren’t able to make it into the clinic but still want one-to-one nutritional support from the comfort of their own homes and fit around your busy lifestyle.

The Ellingham Nutrition team offer consultations online via zoom, this offers you a similar experience to an in-person appointment, but the consultations will be via a secure online video instead of a face-to-face consulting room.

Our nutritional consultations can also be conducted face-to-face in our clinic. A one-to-one consultation with each client will further understand the factors affecting their nutrition and well-being.
